Prtland to me felt like home. I flew in from San Fran to be picked up by Kevin Russ where I set base for the next 10 days. I had been looking forward to traveling around the north west since I decided to come to the states. I initially started emailing Kevin on his blog about his travels and photography in search of inspiration (I didn't know at the time that 8 months later we would be out exploring together in the North West)
The adventures were endless, hiking mount hood, the bonfires, the gathering of wonderful people, taking photos, the gorge, halloween parties, meeting new people, amazing coffee, second hand stores, amazing food, networking, more photos, more people, more inspiration...
It was in Portland that I met some of the most inspirational people I have met on my trip so far, I got to get brunch with a man called branden harvey a talented photographer who has a huge heart and a contagious spirit for people. I spent some time with Kevin's close friends Tim and Gill, two very humorous and talented guys who I got to become quite close with. I spent time with endless amounts of creative lovely people. I spent time with a guy called Jared who
I've had the pleasure of getting to know the past week I was in Portland. Within our
first 10 minutes of meeting I was being taught how to eat s'mores
properly and we were sharing life stories around a fire pit. It was
quickly evident how much community means to Jared.
I got to explore his property yesterday and have to say his home is the
bomb! I realised yesterday whether it was driving back from mount hood,
sitting around a fire pit, having deep fried Oreos or walking around
state parks that he is the type of guy that overflows with encouragement
and kindness with everything he does. Jared is one of the most
welcoming selfless person I have met. He is incredibly talented and I
don't think he knows how talented he really is. I had my last few days at Closner sisters house who play in a band called Joseph. I was welcomed into their home and it was just nice to be around a few girls and to be looked after.
The north west to me was extremely welcoming, it's not a big city and the coffee is great. Good people + coffee means this was the city for me... If only I could of stayed..
